It’s been a very challenging past 5 months or so for our family. Kelli is still experiencing her constant daily headache that started this past August. We have been following all of our doctors’ orders, and even with strong medications, the headaches have continued and her fibromyalgia symptoms have been getting worse.
So unfortunately we are finding ourselves in a place where we are needing to leave PNG to get more medical care. We will be taking what is called a “medical furlough.” This will give us a period of time to get treatment for Kelli’s headaches and Fibromyalgia as well as give us time to see if we could somehow one day return to PNG or if the Lord would have us to do another ministry in the States with Ethnos360 (NTM).
This is a very recent and hard decision for us and we are still in the shock and awe part where none of the details are very clear, but we do feel a peace and have been affirmed by the NTM PNG leadership here that we are making the right choice to attend to Kelli’s medical needs.
We are not exactly sure when we will be heading back to the States, but we are hoping to arrive sometime in the next 1-2 months. For now we will be working on the details of the move, which include getting our house ready for other missionaries to rent and packing up our personal belongings that we would like to bring back to the States. We feel that the Lord is showing us that the best place for this time of healing for Kelli and recovery for our family is to move back to the Tucson, AZ area where our family called home before coming to PNG.
We have really appreciated all of your prayers and encouragement over these past several months of health issues. Please continue to pray for us as we continue through this transition and time of uncertainty! Our faith in God has grown over these last months during this time of suffering and we see our relationship with Him as being all that we need in this life. Even as we write this, we currently do not have a house, a vehicle, or a known job, but we have all we need through our relationship with Him.
We love you guys!
Mike and Kelli B.
