We have much to praise the Lord for and also to be praying about! This Monday two big events will begin on our island. Please be praying for our new updated literacy course that will have its first class day on Monday. The adult students will be meeting five days a week for about four months. We would like to see the students be faithful in attending and excited about learning to read or improving their reading skills. Part of the students are totally illiterate. Some of the adults have learned to read the trade language in the past but they have never had anything to read in Tigak (“tee-gahk”). This is changing as Ned is completing and printing portions of the Bible for them in Tigak. We especially want to see the adults grow in their reading comprehension and study skills as they learn to read, study and apply God’s Word.
Also, we have a translation consultant coming on Monday to check more of the Tigak New Testament. We especially need just the right Tigak people to be available to help out with this check. There is a lot of work to be done but we are thankful that we were able to meet the March 2nd deadline for getting all the work to the translation consultant before we headed to our regional center for part of March.
Ned was able to check the book of Luke for the Ivanga tribe while we were gone. Also, we attended our annual regional conference and the kids took part in school testing. It is always encouraging to see the other missionaries from our area and fellowship together. Many special memories were made during those days for us and for our kids!
Please remember to pray for our kids. We need lots of wisdom as we are making final decisions on where Savannah and Bethany will attend college in the fall. Also, pray for Josiah as he is continuing on with college classes and seeking the Lord’s direction in his life.
