Ned has been working through taping the book of Matthew with Robin each day. It is a long process but it changes the rough draft Ned did while we were in the USA to a smoother, more natural version of the Scriptures. When someone who is not a native English speaker tells you a story and you repeat it back. You will naturally correct any bad grammar or unnatural sounding sections. This is the idea in having Robin repeat back each portion of Scripture out loud before completing a first draft which will then go through comprehension checking with multiple Tigak speakers.
Ned is using the office I sent the picture of in the last update. The office is no longer on posts, but sitting on the ground, and it is still usable. We have had tons of rain so the office is often sitting in the middle of a “lake”. We are thankful for the rain so we have full water tanks! One water tank has been repaired a couple of times but is still leaking. We will see how long it lasts.
Ned made it back safely with batteries for our house and our coworker’s house after some time drifting on the ocean in a broken down boat and finding a ride back on public transportation. We were also given solar panels from some other missionaries that weren’t using them to replace the ones stolen while we were gone. It is great to have good power again! We are slowly getting everything back in working order. I replaced my broken washing machine with a twin tub. There are pros and cons to using a twin tub and I am sure I’ll be happy to return to using an automatic when we are back in the USA.
Savannah is currently on her way to PNG. We know she is going to have a special year teaching in her old high school and taking care of Christina during her senior year. Linn will take Christina to school the first week of August. Linn will also have to deal with going through all of our things in Goroka that were left behind when she had her medical evacuation a year ago.
It is encouraging to be back in the tribe with all of our coworkers. We appreciate you standing with us! “Pray, and let God worry!” Martin Luther
