A Fun Monday

November 25, 2013 by Paul and Ellen Swenson

We had a great day today for our last whole day in Ghana. We had breakfast at the hotel and then went around town. First we played a little, took pictures and collected shells at the beach. The fishermen were out but many boats were on the beach getting repairs. After that we went to the Arts Center and bought a few things. Going back a second time was easier than our first experience. Maybe now we understood what to expect and how to dicker for the price. Our social worker, Ebe, really helped us with this as well. At the Center, she asked a drummer to perform for us. Not only did he and his friends perform which was amazing, but he taught Hazen (he was the only one who would volunteer). We met up with a child of another adoptive family there as he had a visa interview that day. He is about the boys’ ages and so they all had fun together for the rest of the day. We then drove by the national square and Black Star Stadium on the way to KFC (we needed some non spicy food for a change). I think that may be the only American chain in the city. AFter, we headed one last time to say goodbye to Mama Victoria- Emmanuella Ama’s foster mother and her family. Hazen and Noah had fun playing with the neighborhood kids (who thought these white boys were quite the novelty). We drove back to the hotel, said goodbye to the boys’ new friend, swam and got ready for bed. We saw a lot of neat things and met a lot of fun people today. The boys are very glad they came. It was a great last full day in Africa.
