It Takes a “Village” (not just a missionary) A theme that has woven its way through our last month or so has been teamwork. We studied in Acts how the church prayed and sent out Paul and Barnabas from Antioch (Acts 13:1-3). They didn’t go alone, the church was behind them. We’ve also had the privilege to learn and pray about different support missionaries on the field. Some have had injuries and it has made things harder on their fields without them. We’ve also been able to visit supporters and friends on our spring break. As we reflect on Easter, we’re reminded that the Easter story is the greatest story ever told. It’s a story of great hope and joy. The reality that Jesus conquered sin and death changes everything for us. How is it that God would chose to bring the greatest story ever told to those who’ve never heard? He chose to use the church! What an awesome privilege we have to be involved in bringing this message to the remotest part of the earth (Acts 1:8). It’s not just the Swensons who are involved in reaching those who’ve never heard. It begins with God using the church: to send, to pray, to give, to be His hands and feet. We are so thankful for how God has been using the church to encourage us. If you’re not actively involved in extending the reach of the Gospel, may we encourage you to join the team and be a participant in reaching out.
We highlight at Easter the power of God to forgive, make new and transform lives. To bring that message to the outer reaches of the world… it takes a “village”… called The Church.
What have we been up to? We had a lovely Spring Break week. We went to Telford Tennessee and visited all of our friends at the Telford GBC where we experienced Southern Hospitality first hand. We enjoyed getting to know folks and hiking in some beautiful places. We also were able to meet up with friends in PA and meet folks at their church… as well as see the Sight and Sound Theatre’s production of “Moses”. We are back to school now and getting used to being back in a schedule! Click for more photos…
Pray for more workers… there is great need for church planting and support missionaries.
