{"id":567,"date":"2016-11-27T03:58:47","date_gmt":"2016-11-27T07:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/?p=567"},"modified":"2016-11-27T03:58:47","modified_gmt":"2016-11-27T07:58:47","slug":"heading-on-home-assignment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/2016\/11\/27\/heading-on-home-assignment\/","title":{"rendered":"Heading on Home Assignment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-569\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2016\/11\/DSC08527s-300x220.jpg\" alt=\"dsc08527s\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2016\/11\/DSC08527s-300x220.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2016\/11\/DSC08527s-768x563.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2016\/11\/DSC08527s-600x440.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2016\/11\/DSC08527s.jpg 957w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>In your recent update we asked for your prayers regarding our up and coming home assignment time in the US.\u00a0 With just over one week to go we are so thankful for your prayers and support during this busy time.\u00a0 Here is a short list of some of the things that we ask you to be praying about:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Work in the hangar<\/strong>:<\/span> Paul has handed off his tasks and just has a few more things to do before we leave.\u00a0 Pray for the team there as not only are we leaving but another mechanic will be departing in December as well.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Our travels home:<\/strong> <\/span>Several months ago we purchased our tickets to the US (we were excited to find a pretty good price for the 6 flights that take us from the highlands of Papua New Guinea to Tulsa, Oklahoma).\u00a0 Unfortunately they have changed several times and our nice comfortable layovers (is there really anything comfortable about 6 flights with a 3 and 5 year old?) have become basically impossible connections.\u00a0 We are already expecting to miss at least one of our connections.\u00a0 Thankfully it is all with the same airline.\u00a0 Please pray that we are provided decent accommodations and flexible attitudes as we roll with the changes.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Financial needs:<\/strong> <\/span>We are so thankful for how the Lord has provided.\u00a0 Special one-time gifts as well as our normal faithful monthly supporters have helped us as we prepare for this expensive transition.\u00a0 From getting new cell phones to setting up \u201chouse\u201d for our year of home assignment, we anticipate extra expenses.\u00a0 Also, we are currently waiting for our health insurance to process some claims we have submitted.\u00a0 (Currently we are waiting on reimbursement of over $9,000 for Paul\u2019s prescription shots.\u00a0 Pray they are timely in their processing as we then need to pay the NTM-PNG field back this amount).<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>We are going to be <\/strong><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><strong>cold!<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>We will be leaving tropical Papua New Guinea and landing in the frozen fields of Kansas.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 But seriously, it is going to be an adjustment for us all.\u00a0 (And yes, we will be some of those crazy shoppers days before Christmas.\u00a0 Hopefully the children\u2019s clothing section won\u2019t be too crowded. Thanks to brother Dan for coats from a coat drive he helped with).<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Reverse culture shock!<\/strong><\/span> Many don\u2019t realize what an adjustment it can be for missionaries returning to their home culture.\u00a0 We have experienced this before but this will be the first time we get to help our young kids walk through it.\u00a0 The cereal isle alone might be enough to cause Phoebe to pass out!<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Living out of suitcases:<\/strong><\/span> We will be living a bit of a nomad existence for the next several months. While we are looking forward to seeing friends and family, we are praying for extra strength as we live in transition.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Doctor\u2019s appointments: <\/strong><\/span>We would like to get Paul into the doctors as soon as possible to make the most of this year stateside. There will be the preliminary tests and checks (the tropics come with many surprises) that have to be completed before any real diagnosis and treatments can be made.
