{"id":876,"date":"2023-01-21T16:03:46","date_gmt":"2023-01-21T20:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/?p=876"},"modified":"2023-01-21T16:03:46","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T20:03:46","slug":"why-dig-a-hole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/2023\/01\/21\/why-dig-a-hole\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Dig a Hole?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why did Paul find himself in this situation?\u00a0 Follow along as we recap 2022! <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-878\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/IMG-20230121-WA0000-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/IMG-20230121-WA0000-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/IMG-20230121-WA0000-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/IMG-20230121-WA0000-83x110.jpg 83w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/IMG-20230121-WA0000-188x250.jpg 188w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/IMG-20230121-WA0000-190x253.jpg 190w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/IMG-20230121-WA0000.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In April of 2022, we had to unexpectantly leave Papua New Guinea.\u00a0 Paul left his ministry as an aircraft mechanic and Andrea stepped out of her role as high school science facilitator.\u00a0 While it was our desire to remain supporting tribal missions <b>in PNG, <\/b>it was more important that Phoebe be under the care of a pediatric orthopedic doctor.\u00a0 We began to look for ways that we could do both:\u00a0 continue to support tribal missions AND have Phoebe\u2019s medical needs meet.\u00a0 The Lord directed us to Ethnos360 Aviation&#8217;s training center in southern Arizona.\u00a0 While they didn&#8217;t have a need for an aircraft mechanic or science teacher, they did need help in keeping the training campus maintained.<\/p>\n<p>So in June we moved to McNeal, Arizona and Paul began working with the facilities maintenance team while Andrea started back into homeschooling Phoebe and Josh.\u00a0 Paul\u2019s daily tasks can be anything from general household maintenance like, \u201cMice are living in my washer\/dryer!\u201d, snake removal, to fixing things or set up and pouring of a cement slab.\u00a0 Currently the team is working on setting up two new houses, but he never knows what a day may hold.\u00a0 A few weeks ago he came home for lunch muddy!\u00a0 A water leak was discovered and our two aircraft hangars and office building had to have their water shutoff.\u00a0 He got to help digging the hole and getting dirty fixing the leak.<\/p>\n<p>Why are new houses important?\u00a0 Why is the training hangar necessary?\u00a0 Here at Ethnos360 Aviation&#8217;s training center, their goal is to train up the next generation of pilots and mechanics who will go and serve overseas.\u00a0 While these trainees have all had previous aircraft training and experience, this last step in training is necessary to equip them for the challenges of flying and maintaining aircraft overseas.\u00a0 Thus we are glad to provide them housing while they train.\u00a0 And the folks working in the hangar &amp; office really appreciated having running water again!<\/p>\n<p>We are so thankful that we are still able to be a part of seeing the Gospel go out to tribal folks.\u00a0 While we are a little further physically from the actual church planting, we are still encouraged.\u00a0 Late last year we got to see the graduation of several trainee families\u2026 one even heading to PNG!<\/p>\n<p><b>Do you feel removed from tribal church planting?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>Like us, you are not actually living in a foreign country rubbing shoulders with precious people who Jesus wants to redeem. <b>Be<\/b> <b>encouraged<\/b> with us!\u00a0 By praying for us &amp; tribal missions &amp; by giving financially you <b><i>ARE<\/i><\/b> a part.\u00a0 You are making it possible.\u00a0 No administrator, staff member or missionary with Ethnos360 gets a salary.\u00a0 This includes those who are serving in the United States (or their home country).\u00a0 In order to keep tuitions, training and overhead costs at a minimal, no members are salaried.\u00a0 Instead we rely on <b>God<\/b> through churches and individuals, just like overseas missionaries, to help provide all our needs.\u00a0 We <b>thank the Lord <\/b>for the support team He has given us.\u00a0 You are such a blessing &amp; encouragement to us!<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>The Future<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We started 2022 with a bang and we ended it with one!\u00a0 Andrea had emergency gallbladder surgery followed by a<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-877\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/Family-Picture-Oct-2022s-300x243.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/Family-Picture-Oct-2022s-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/Family-Picture-Oct-2022s-125x101.jpg 125w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/Family-Picture-Oct-2022s-250x202.jpg 250w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/Family-Picture-Oct-2022s-313x253.jpg 313w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wilson\/files\/2023\/01\/Family-Picture-Oct-2022s.jpg 569w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> severe infection.\u00a0 We are glad to report that she is recovered and actually feeling a lot better than before!<\/p>\n<p>Just last week we had another appointment with Phoebe\u2019s hip doctor.\u00a0 He is encouraged by her progress.\u00a0 She is slowly walking better, but still gets tired over longer distances.\u00a0 At the stage she is in, we will continue to do stretches and exercises at home.\u00a0 Yeah swim therapy!!!\u00a0 (Sadly, the true \u201coutcome\u201d of Perthes disease is often seen as the patient moves into adult and mid-life with many needing a hip replacement).\u00a0 Excitingly, her doctor is willing to do virtual visits which means if we do go back to PNG, he will still be \u201con call\u201d as her doctor.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Did you catch that?<\/i><\/b>\u00a0 We said \u201c<i>if <\/i>we do go back to PNG.\u201d\u00a0 As this letter goes out, <b>that is still our desire and plan\u2026<\/b> to head back this summer.\u00a0 A lot needs to happen, but that has always been the case.\u00a0 Getting the go-ahead from Phoebe\u2019s doctor was just one of the hurdles we needed to overcome.\u00a0 Paul still needs to close out his brother\u2019s estate to name other.<\/p>\n<p>The Wilson family has sure had a bunch of bumps in the road (trials) and we can easily get discouraged.\u00a0 It <i>could<\/i> make sense for us to just close the door to PNG and remain in the States.\u00a0 Maybe God will direct us that way.\u00a0 We want to follow His leading and not lean on our own understanding.\u00a0\u00a0 (Proverbs 3:4-5)<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Praise<\/b> <b>&amp;
