\"\"<\/a>Everybody loves a good piece of cake, don\u2019t they?\u00a0 Nice and moist — not too sweet and it melts in your mouth?! \u00a0— But then there\u2019s the icing! — Mmmmmm — you smear it on thick and creamy — and then you can top it off with slivered dark chocolate and almonds?\u00a0 Or maybe you\u2019d rather smother it with fresh berries and then drown it in whipped cream? \u00a0You take a really good thing and make it even \u201cgooder\u201d! J<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>THE CAKE — <\/em><\/strong>That\u2019s kind of the way Paul and I are feeling about this era of our lives!\u00a0 We feel like we\u2019ve got the \u201ccake\u201d (47 years in ministry) — God\u2019s used the sugar and rich butter — whipped it good and mixed in the flour, leavening, milk and seasonings and whipped it some more.\u00a0 We\u2019ll call those \u201cingredients\u201d the ten years in the jungle with the Ayore people in Bolivia; the twelve years in Mexico and seven years in Paraguay in leadership, and now these last fifteen years in the States, serving on the Board. \u00a0And then there\u2019s been the fire to bake that cake and make it edible and servable! \u00a0Binding it all together is God\u2019s amazing enabling grace and faithfulness that He\u2019s showered down on us in abundance.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

THE ICING<\/em><\/strong> — But now we\u2019ve gotten to the ICING on that cake!\u00a0J Last week, Paul stepped off the Executive Board. \u00a0It has been a pleasure and honor to be a part of the leadership team of New Tribes Mission.\u00a0 WE ARE NOT RETIRING!\u00a0 This change has been planned allowing for a smooth transition.\u00a0 Three years ago we moved here to Missouri and our time has been divided between the Missionary Training Center (MTC) and the responsibilities with the Board.\u00a0 Now, we get to do what we both LOVE to do — we get to pour our lives and hearts into training our young missionary candidates and to work alongside the amazing staff that God has here in this place. \u00a0Paul will be involved in teaching more classes, and we will be even more involved in the member care aspect with our staff.\u00a0 What a blessing to be able to serve God in this way!\u00a0 We have loved every area God has led us into! <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Of course, my \u201ccake\u201d analogy does have some flaws in itJ\u00a0\u201cThe cake\u201d is certainly not perfect!\u00a0 And God continues to \u201ctweak\u201d the recipe! J Every now and then He has to throw it back into the fire! \u00a0Each of you has been a VERY important ingredient in our \u201ccake\u201d — our lives — and without your prayers and support it would have \u201cflopped\u201d long ago! \u00a0YOU are the \u201cicing\u201d in OUR lives!!!\u00a0 Thank you SO MUCH for your continued prayers and support!\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0We\u2019re so thankful that my pain level is more under control and it\u2019s a blessing to be able to have the freedom to be as involved as my body allowsJ. \u00a0The pain shots are effective for around three to four months and I\u2019m able to have them up to four times a year — I\u2019m due for another one soon.\u00a0 My prayer every day is that I will live above my discomfort and reflect Jesus through it all!\u00a0 Paul continues to do very well and we have so MUCH to be thankful for.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Pray also with us as we prayerfully take on additional ministries here at the MTC. \u00a0There is an endless world of ministry open to us!<\/strong><\/p>\n
