{"id":198,"date":"2018-03-26T16:40:39","date_gmt":"2018-03-26T21:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wyma\/?p=198"},"modified":"2018-03-26T16:40:39","modified_gmt":"2018-03-26T21:40:39","slug":"i-love-road-maps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/paul-wyma\/2018\/03\/26\/i-love-road-maps\/","title":{"rendered":"I Love Road Maps!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>I love road maps<\/em><\/strong>!\u00a0 I was my dad&#8217;s &#8220;navigator&#8221; and, as we traveled, I&#8217;d spend hours mapping out our best route &#8212; counting the miles between cities and figuring out the estimated time of arrival.\u00a0 I loved the sense of accomplishment as we ticked off the miles and left the towns behind progressing toward our destination!\u00a0 Of course, now we have a Garmin (Paul LOVES his Garmin) or cells \u00a0&#8212; but it\u2019s just not the same!\u00a0 You can\u2019t look ahead &#8212; you have NO idea where the rivers and parks are or how high the mountain peaks are in the area &#8212; what big cities are around you or where there\u2019s road construction!\u00a0 I LOVE to map out my journey!<\/p>\n<p>We try to &#8220;<strong>map out<\/strong>&#8221; our lives, don&#8217;t we!?\u00a0 We make goals to our \u201cdestination\u201d &#8212; try to figure out the \u201cmiles\u201d between one place to the other and how much time to get there. \u00a0But then there comes the road blocks, we\u2019re delayed by blizzards or floods &#8212; or waiting in heavy bumper to bumper traffic! \u00a0NO ONE likes to be delayed &#8212; or slowed down!\u00a0 And forget those orange &#8220;Detour&#8221; signs!\u00a0 We just groan when we see them!\u00a0\u00a0 Who wants a detour?!\u00a0 It takes us places we do NOT want to go! \u00a0And so goes our lives!\u00a0 And we have to re-route &#8212; or listen to the Gamin saying, \u201cre-calculating\u201d!<\/p>\n<p>Last week we spent some time with a young couple who are almost finished with their two year missionary training and they wanted to talk about choosing a country to serve in.\u00a0 They have three adorable little girls and are seeking God\u2019s will, taking into account their gifts and abilities and which foreign country would be the best place for them!\u00a0 They want to be SUCCESSFUL missionaries &#8212; and they would really love a <strong><em>\u201croad map\u201d<\/em><\/strong>!\u00a0 They\u2019d like to highlight their route &#8212; avoiding the detours that will slow them down!\u00a0 What a joy to hear their hearts &#8212; to be able to encourage them and share with them some areas that may help as they make their decision.\u00a0 These are the opportunities that God gives us in our ministry here at the MTC.\u00a0 We love interacting with our staff and students!<\/p>\n<p>Little did we know, when our babies were little where our \u201c<strong><em>road map\u201d <\/em><\/strong>would lead us.\u00a0 We never dreamed that we\u2019d end up serving, not only in Bolivia, but in Mexico and Paraguay.\u00a0 WE didn\u2019t have a <em>\u201c<strong>road map<\/strong><\/em>\u201d &#8212; but our God did! There have been a lot of detours along the way &#8212; mountains to climb and beautiful, fertile valleys to rejoice in!\u00a0 And if we keep the analogy going &#8212; the old vehicles are showing their wear and tear and they\u2019ve slowed down :-}\u00a0 How we appreciate your companionship on this journey!!!\u00a0 You are a treasure beyond words!\u00a0 God continues \u201cmap out\u201d our journey &#8212; highlighting our way &#8212; and we continue to totally enjoy our ministry!\u00a0\u00a0 But there is NO WAY we could be here without you.\u00a0 Jer. 29:11 means as much to us today as it did at the beginning of our \u201cjourney\u201d!\u00a0 We KNOW that even now, in our old age, God still has a plan for us &#8212; a plan, not to hurt us but to give us a hope and a future.
