We already knew we&#8217;d have to pay extra for the 5th tote, but it was starting to look pretty\u00a0bad if we had to pull everything out, rearrange it on the airport floor and also get rid of enough stuff to correctly weigh in! \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3381\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Luggage-600x399.jpeg\" alt=\"Luggage\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Luggage-600x399.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Luggage-300x199.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Luggage.jpeg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Only mercy from a loving Father could have put us in line with a few new trainees and the floor manager who decided without any prompting from us, to allow all of our bags through, since we were already paying for the extra one, instead of making us unpack and\u00a0put all of the heavy items\u00a0in the extra tote\u00a0before checking in!<\/p>\n<p>The flights were long, but not unbearable. Arriving in Singapore after only a pit stop in Korea for fuel was awesome! By then we&#8217;d had over 20 hours on a plane. We were glad for the hot shower and a bed to sleep in during our layover. I&#8217;d also never thought I&#8217;d be excited to see McDonalds for breakfast. Did you know you had the option to have a lighter breakfast? You could just order a side of corn! We all made it through immigration and customs to be met by a slew of semi-familiar faces from our days back in Missouri!<\/p>\n<p>Our first days were spent being fed and shown around by the others here who have been here for a few months already. The team here did an amazing job making our landing as smooth as possible. We did lots of shopping downtown in our little city, which doesn&#8217;t seem as little as I&#8217;d imagined it! Our helper cooked us this amazing stew\/soup called &#8220;soto&#8221; which I could probably eat every week. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3387\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Soto-600x399.jpeg\" alt=\"Soto!\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Soto-600x399.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Soto-300x199.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/payton-downing\/files\/2015\/03\/Soto.jpeg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A few thankfuls:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Our war against the roaches seems to be manageable now<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; We start the &#8220;Warm up&#8221; stage of language learning on Monday!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Our house and neighborhood are great<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The temperature now (rainy season) isn&#8217;t that much different than Michigan, so the temps are manageable!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I can buy eggs right next door<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I finally know how to use one of these!
