Peter Humphreys and Leah\u00a0Eaton, <\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span>both missionary kids,<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span> entered training with New Tribes Mission (now Ethnos360) in 1974. They were married in 1976, and continued the second half of missions’ training together.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

They followed God’s call to Paraguay, South America, where they served for 25 years. The Humphreys invested the\u00a0first 17 years in a remote location among the Manj\u00fai people, where they raised their family and served with a church-planting team.<\/p>\n

Their tribal team responsibilities included cross-cultural communication of the Gospel message, development of a Bible-teaching curriculum and discipleship of local leaders, as well as medical and literacy work.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Men, women and young people among the Manj\u00fai responded in faith to the invitation of God to be reconciled to Him, and today there is a small and maturing church, with itinerant missionaries visiting regularly. The Manj\u00fai church has also sent out their own missionary family to a far-away group of their people who had never heard!<\/p>\n

In the years that followed, Peter and Leah were involved in a full-time leadership and consultant ministry among their colleagues in Paraguay as well as in other countries. \"Paraguay\"After working themselves out of their job in Paraguay through the mentoring of faithful men and women, Pete and Leah were reassigned to Member Care in Ontario, Canada (still with NTM, now Ethnos Canada) in March, 2004. Among their passions are leadership development and shepherding, tribal church planting, and missionary care.<\/p>\n

Peter and Leah are blessed with 5 kids and have a growing number of grandchildren (18 to date, and lots of pictures they like to show anyone who will pause long enough to provide an audience). Peter is a pastoral counselor who enjoys studying, teaching Truth, and hanging out with people. He is also\u00a0an avid outdoorsman and loves a good game of basketball. Leah has a doctorate in Christian Counseling, and enjoys public speaking, reading and studying, and playing with her grandchildren!<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

OUR PURPOSE at Still Waters<\/span><\/span><\/span> is to provide an opportunity for Ethnos leaders and missionaries in crisis to experience a season of physical, emotional, and spiritual refreshment through the ministry of the Word, the comfort of the Spirit, and fellowship with His people.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Bridge<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Physical Refreshment: <\/strong>Often, the most urgent need is physical rest. This would be a period of time when there would be no schedule or energy demands so the body can be refreshed and strengthened. God has provided a beautiful loft apartment, separate from our home, where a couple can stay and get this kind of rest out here in the country.<\/p>\n

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”\u00a0Mark 6:31<\/h6>\n

\"Still<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Emotional Refreshment:<\/strong> Time for open reflection, meditation and fellowship promotes a condition of emotional well-being. When a couple is thoroughly rested, they are ready to talk about the struggles they are going through.<\/p>\n

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” I Thessalonians 5:11<\/h6>\n

\"\"<\/a>Spiritual Refreshment:<\/strong> God desires to restore and strengthen a Christ-like perspective by renewal of the mind through the Word. Often these couples just need to be reminded of God’s power, His plan for them through suffering, and the hope and comfort that is always there for them.<\/p>\n
