Eleven years ago I had just recently moved down from living for a month up in Jungle Camp. I never would have guessed years later I would be married and running a program in the same location.
We are just about to head into our sixth summer of Off The Grid! Pete is extremely busy as I write this trying to get all the details together for our start tomorrow evening. We are so grateful for an expanded team this year and specifically for our new administrator who has been such a huge addition to our staff. She is so gifted at what she does and having a new set of eyes on things has made for some great changes behind the scenes in how things are done!
Off The Grid has recently been moved under the leadership of the Emanate program. Previously we had been under the Mobilization department but the idea came along to move us under Emanate and we are quite excited about it! Jungle Camp is a practicum within the Emanate course and so everything Off The Grid does revolves around it. Both courses are educational tools for missions and so it is a great fit to be teamed up with Emanate.
New Tribes Mission has two Bible Institutes and both are planning to bring groups of students this September. We are so pumped about this new development within the program!
Would you pray with us in the weeks ahead? For Pete, as his load is heavy during this time as he gives leadership, overseas the operational side of the program as well as co-teaches the curriculum each weekend. For myself, pray that I will find a good balance with being a mom and being involved in Off The Grid. It has been hard for me since having River to know what ‘a good balance’ looks like.
It really is a privilege to be involved with what God is doing through Off The Grid to reach the nations. It is so awesome to see alumni of the program involved in career missions and in other ways in their churches and communities. We are excited to meet those who have registered to come and we look forward to how God will use Off The Grid in our 2016 year!
