{"id":726,"date":"2010-04-05T23:11:37","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T03:11:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/?p=726"},"modified":"2010-07-03T23:57:16","modified_gmt":"2010-07-04T03:57:16","slug":"february-2010-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/2010\/04\/05\/february-2010-update\/","title":{"rendered":"February, 2010 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Late February News from the Burns:<\/p>\n<p>Greetings from Florida.\u00a0 It has been so cold this year with temperatures below normal.\u00a0 We are still having lows in the thirties.\u00a0 Our snowbirds have to remember that, yes, this is cold for Florida, but it is still a lot warmer than where they come from.<\/p>\n<p>It has been great having our volunteers here again this winter.\u00a0 The time has gone quickly and in a month all will be headed north, usually around the first of April.\u00a0 I was pleased that Doc Wally was able to be here again.\u00a0 He is 88 years old, but was stronger this year than last.\u00a0 I had a lot of wood ready for him and he has already turned most of it into beautiful cabinets.\u00a0 The kitchen we are working on right now is that of our main tax man and his wife.\u00a0 Brain and his crew are very busy this time of year filling out 1040 forms and filing them for many of our missionaries, both here and abroad.\u00a0 You can imagine what a blessing this service is to our tribal missionaries who already have much to trust the Lord for without<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-727\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/04\/cody-ntbi-grad-may-09-9-cody-with-mom-dad-1-480-mp-250x300.jpg\" alt=\"cody ntbi grad may 09 #9 cody with mom &amp; dad-1 480 mp\" width=\"122\" height=\"147\" \/> having the IRS being another worry.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for all of your prayers while Phil was sick.\u00a0 He spent five days in the hospital, and at last the chills stopped. It was exciting to see all the kids involved in helping others.\u00a0 Together, with the adults of the church, thousands of meals were packaged and shipped to Haiti.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-736\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/04\/brooke-Tartaglia-talking-with-mibu-woman.jpg\" alt=\"brooke Tartaglia talking with mibu woman\" width=\"130\" height=\"145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/04\/brooke-Tartaglia-talking-with-mibu-woman.jpg 130w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/04\/brooke-Tartaglia-talking-with-mibu-woman-99x110.jpg 99w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 130px) 100vw, 130px\" \/>Mibu tribe in Papua New Guinea-<\/strong> We have mentioned this tribe to you before as it hasn\u2019t been that long since they first heard the Gospel.\u00a0 Several deaths among the Mibus have the people nearly reeling with grief \u2013 a believer died of cancer and then the small child of another believing family was drowned. In spite of the difficulty of dealing with grief and loss the Mibus are evidencing growth in their walk with the Lord. At a past meeting, Jemsnannya, a Mibu believer, stood and said, &#8220;Before, when someone would die we were without hope and used to follow our ancestors&#8217; customs, like spitting to the sun.
