{"id":756,"date":"2010-06-30T17:10:44","date_gmt":"2010-06-30T21:10:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/?p=756"},"modified":"2010-06-30T17:10:44","modified_gmt":"2010-06-30T21:10:44","slug":"june-news-from-us-burns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/2010\/06\/30\/june-news-from-us-burns\/","title":{"rendered":"June News from Us Burns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s already the end of June and we are already wondering where the summer has gone!\u00a0 I am sure you agree that time just flies by too quickly!<\/p>\n<p>Phil is keeping busy in the carpenter shop making window trim for some of the mission apartments.\u00a0 He built some kitchen cabinets on the side for an acquaintance and hopes to make another set in a couple of months &#8211; these extra jobs always help out with monthly expenses!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium  wp-image-760\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/P6259759-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P6259759\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/P6259759-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/P6259759-147x110.jpg 147w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/P6259759-250x188.jpg 250w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/P6259759.JPG 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of course, Jackie is out of school now but still works some in the NTM office.\u00a0 She recently spent a few weeks helping with the U.S. census but that work is over now. She, also,\u00a0 just finished helping with Vacation Bible School a<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-769  alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/P6239738-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"P6239738\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>t our church.\u00a0 We had a fun week with about 50-60 kids.\u00a0 Jackie helped teach the Bible lessons to all the different age groups who rotated through the Bible class.\u00a0 We had a Montana cowboy theme, so that was a lot of fun!\u00a0 There were several unchurched kids attending so we pray that they will trust Christ if they didn&#8217;t during their time in VBS.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>All our kids are getting ready to leave us for various places in the next week or so.\u00a0 Heather leaves this weekend to go visit some of our relatives in Montana.\u00a0 She will get home in time to celebrate her birthday with us and then will leave again right away to go to Indonesia for about a week.\u00a0 This trip is with her college ROTC as a cultural experience.\u00a0 Cody will leave July 6 to go to an MK retreat in Pennsylvania for a week.\u00a0 Several of the MKs from the mission will be going. Then Haley leaves the next week to go with a group from our church participating with World Changers in Salt Lake City, Utah.\u00a0 They will help with construction projects for needy families.\u00a0 So, I guess Phil and I will be here pretty much by ourselves during July &#8211; we don&#8217;t have any plans for traveling this summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Missions News:<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-780 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/mengen-literacy.jpg\" alt=\"mengen literacy\" width=\"170\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/mengen-literacy.jpg 170w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/06\/mengen-literacy-98x110.jpg 98w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 170px) 100vw, 170px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>PAPUA NEW GUINEA:<\/span> <span>Mengen tribe: <\/span>Today (June 30) was graduation day for another class of literacy students. Missionaries have been paying high prices to  have food flown in.
