{"id":798,"date":"2010-06-03T23:02:09","date_gmt":"2010-06-04T03:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/?p=798"},"modified":"2010-07-03T23:49:37","modified_gmt":"2010-07-04T03:49:37","slug":"burns-may-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/2010\/06\/03\/burns-may-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Burns May Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Folks, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 May 30, 2010<\/p>\n<p>Greetings.\u00a0 It is hot here and already feels like summertime.\u00a0 It makes me think that our snowbird volunteers are on to something.\u00a0 They come down here when the weather up north is cold and the weather here is, at last, pleasant, then they go home when northern temperatures are warming up to escape the heat that is quickly arriving here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-802\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P4179336-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P4179336\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P4179336-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P4179336-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P4179336-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P4179336-147x110.jpg 147w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P4179336-250x188.jpg 250w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P4179336.JPG 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>I am slowly catching up with my work- I\u2019ve installed some utility cabinets in a staff apartment,\u00a0 finished six tables for the Executive Committee conference room, made beds for the guest facility and made window trim- we are replacing 106 windows this year.\u00a0 They are old and don\u2019t keep the water out when it rains.\u00a0 Our son, Cody has been hired as a part time worker to help with that.\u00a0 I have enjoyed having him work with us and it lets him earn some experience and some cash for college and other needs.\u00a0 I recently \u00a0finished a counter in our media room where visitors to our USA headquarters are taken for a video tour of the mission\u2019s work around the world.\u00a0 New projects never seem to be lacking around here.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I also taught sixth grade art at our mission school.\u00a0 Last week was our last class period most of them finished our last project.\u00a0 It has been fun to watch young talent in the making.\u00a0 Some, of course have more natural ability than others, but I believe all the children had fun this year.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been asked to teach two art classes next year, fifth grade and seventh grade which will be the same children that I had this year.<\/p>\n<p>Jackie keeps working in the Field Ministry Office between teaching math and keyboarding at our mission school, picking up Haley and other missionary teens from high school and all the other things she does.\u00a0 They have asked her to teach again next year as well.<\/p>\n<p>We both helped with the AWANA program at church.\u00a0 It has now ended for the summer, but it was joy to help the children with their verses and help them understand spiritual truth.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-804\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P41690931-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"P4169093\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P41690931-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P41690931-83x110.jpg 83w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P41690931-188x250.jpg 188w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2010\/07\/P41690931.JPG 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>PAPUA NEW GUINEA:<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Dinangat tribe:<\/span> Twenty-eight  believers were baptized Sunday. One of them said, &#8220;Because Jesus died  for my sin, I died to sin as well, and because He rose again I have new  life and will live with Him forever! I want everyone to know that I  believe that and that I want to obey God&#8217;s Word!&#8221; What a clear Gospel  message! Please pray that these believers will continue to follow God&#8217;s  Word and grow in their walk with  Him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JACKIE\u2019S CORNER:<\/strong> I recently shared at a Mother\/Daughter Banquet at our church. \u00a0The talk centered around a neat verse \u2013<strong> Nahum 1:7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.<\/p>\n<p>I hope this verse will be an encouragement to you this week as you run into difficult moments. Remember: He is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">good<\/span>, He is a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Refuge<\/span> and He <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">cares for you<\/span>!<\/p>\n<p>MISSION NEWS:<\/p>\n<p><strong>PAPUA NEW GUINEA:<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Dinangat tribe:<\/span> Twenty-eight believers were baptized Sunday.
