{"id":9,"date":"2008-07-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-02T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-10-17T09:23:52","modified_gmt":"2009-10-17T13:23:52","slug":"burns-june-2008-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/2008\/07\/02\/burns-june-2008-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Burns June, 2008 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartImportPhoto--><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2008\/07\/560_40394.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-104\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;margin-bottom: 5px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2008\/07\/560_40394.jpg\" alt=\"Teaching Vacation Bible School at Central Baptist Church- June, 2008\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><!--EndImportPhoto--><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"redText\">HOT!<\/span> That&#8217;s pretty normal for Florida but even Colorado was hot when Heather and I visited in June (see our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ntm.org\/phil-burns\/9099\" target=\"_blank\">previous news article<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>School is out for the kids (except <strong>Heather<\/strong> is taking a literature course online), I don&#8217;t have a class to teach, and Awanas is &#8216;on hold&#8217; for the summer but &#8230;.life goes on in the tribes, as well as here at NTM U.S. Headquarters.\u00a0 <!--more--><strong>Phil <\/strong>has stayed busy building new doors for the mission chapel, a cabinet for the sound equipment and will soon begin cabinets for new mission housing.\u00a0 <strong>Cody<\/strong> is helping out at\u00a0 the Mission to make money to go back to Bible School in the fall. Haley is mainly taking it easy! I (<strong>Jackie<\/strong>) am working part-time in the Field Ministries Office and trying to spend a little more time with Haley while she is out of school.<\/p>\n<p>We had a really nice visit from <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Pastor Guy Shields and his family<\/span> from one of our supporting churches in Oregon (<span class=\"boldText-red\">Shan Creek Community Bible Church<\/span>). <!--StartImportThumbnail--><a rel=\"thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2008\/07\/560_34084.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-104\" style=\"float:left;margin-right:5px;border: 0.5pt solid #BCC4C8\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2008\/07\/560_34084.jpg\" alt=\"We were thankful to be able to visit with pastor and family of Shan Creek Community Church in Oregon - one of our supporting churches.\" width=\"150\" \/><\/a><!--EndImportThumbnail-->They were in Florida to visit family but also wanted to visit us and see first-hand our ministry here.\u00a0 Guy spent a morning helping Phil in the carpenter shop and I introduced Geni to folks in my department so she could find out more about Bible Translation, church planting and literacy.\u00a0 We were also able to share prayer requests with them.\u00a0 <!--StartImportThumbnail--><a rel=\"thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2008\/07\/560_40392.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-104\" style=\"float:left;margin-right:5px;border: 0.5pt solid #BCC4C8\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/phil-burns\/files\/2008\/07\/560_40392.jpg\" alt=\"Geni Shields getting to know Cody`s snake while visiting us.\" width=\"150\" \/><\/a><!--EndImportThumbnail-->It is encouraging to know that the church will be praying for us in specific ways.
