Wearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Baby wearing is not a new fad.\u00a0 For hundreds, maybe thousands of years, the Nahuatl and other indigenous mothers have been wearing their babies.\u00a0 Here is a 16 year old mother with her one year old:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rachel-chapman\/files\/2012\/06\/valentina-lo-res.jpg\"><img sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I got to try my hand, or my back, at this ancient practice.\u00a0 Katie was checking language with one of our Nahuatl friends.\u00a0 Her baby was really fussy and I was trying to keep him quiet so Katie and our friend could concentrate on Nahuatl.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t working, so I tried to give him back to his mother.\u00a0 She picked up her shawl and said, &#8220;He want\u00b4s to be worn.\u00a0 Here&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I was scared to put him on because I figure he&#8217;d fall out of the shawl.\u00a0 So, she tied him
