They were good, and I left a few to take with us on our next trip, too!\u00a0  We&#8217;re off soon&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the recipe if you want to enjoy them, too!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rachel-chapman\/files\/2009\/12\/Cookies-002-low-res.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-340\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rachel-chapman\/files\/2009\/12\/Cookies-002-low-res-300x293.jpg\" alt=\"Cookies 002 low res\" width=\"270\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rachel-chapman\/files\/2009\/12\/Cookies-002-low-res-300x293.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rachel-chapman\/files\/2009\/12\/Cookies-002-low-res-150x146.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rachel-chapman\/files\/2009\/12\/Cookies-002-low-res.jpg 490w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/a>1\/2 c. sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 c. brown sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 c. butter, softened<br \/>\n1\/2 c. shortening<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. cocoa (optional, with the chocolate chips.\u00a0 I added it today!)<br \/>\n1.5 tsp. vanilla<br \/>\n1.5 tsp. cinnamon<br \/>\n1 tsp. baking soda<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. salt<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. nutmeg<br \/>\npinch of ginger* <em>add this only with dried fruit.\u00a0 I wouldn&#8217;t add it with chocolate chips<\/em><br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n3 c. oats<br \/>\n1 c. whole wheat flour<br \/>\nchopped pecans, dried cranberries, orange peel, chocolate chips, or whatever tickles your fancy&#8230; (I just throw in the quantities that look good &#8211; &#8217;til the dough is sufficiently speckled with color.\u00a0 Or you can do 1 cup of extras.)<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 375 degrees.\u00a0 Beat sugars, butter, and shortening.\u00a0 Mix in the vanilla, spices, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.\u00a0 Stir in oats and flour.\u00a0 Then add the fruit or chocolate or whatever you want!<\/p>\n<p>Drop onto un-greased cookie sheet.\u00a0 Bake 9-11 minutes or until light brown.\u00a0 Remove immediately to cool.<\/p>\n<p>ENJOY!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I guess their official name is: Cranberry-Pecan-Orange Oatmeal Cookies, but I just call them my oatmeal cookies.\u00a0 Usually I make them with dried fruit in them, sometimes I put in chocolate! \ud83d\ude42 So today I made 2 recipes of these &#8211; 1 fruit and 1 chocolate.
