class=\"wp-caption-text\">Katie Moore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Several of you have asked about my team.\u00a0 So, I decided to feature them here on my blog so you can get to know them a bit better.\u00a0 I met my partner, Katie Moore,in the Fall of 08&#8242;, just over a year ago and God subsequently directed our paths together.\u00a0 Katie, who goes by Tater, graciously allowed me to interview her so that you could get to know her more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So, Tater, that\u2019s an interesting nickname, how did you come by that?<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_472\" little brother started calling me \u201cTate,\u201d trying to say \u201cKate.\u201d\u00a0 Everyone picked it up, including my family.\u00a0 I\u2019m so used to it now I sometimes do a double take when people call me Katie.\u00a0 =)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where are you from?<\/strong><br \/>\nI was born in Missouri, but at 4 months old my parents moved to South America, where I lived until I graduated from high school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You have an interesting connection to one of the other team members.\u00a0 How do you guys know each other?<\/strong><br \/>\nDan Alkire is also an MK (missionary kid) from South America.\u00a0 While we didn\u2019t exactly hang out together (he\u2019s an oldie) we\u2019ve known each other for a long time.\u00a0 In fact, my dad taught Dan in elementary school and I\u2019m now teaching Dan\u2019s son, Josiah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did you come to be in tribal missions?<\/strong><br \/>\nI have always had a positive outlook on missions, but when I was in 11<sup>th<\/sup> grade I really began to think seriously about it.\u00a0 I was visiting a friend whose parents worked in a tribal location and listening to them talk about the translation work on the book of Philippians.\u00a0 It hit me one day that I can read that book in 6 different versions in my house and much of the world has never heard it in one.\u00a0 I want to be a part of doing something about that.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your role on the church-planting team?<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_471\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-471\" Schoolmarm.\u00a0 That\u2019s right\u2026you heard me.\u00a0 I teach the teams\u2019 children in a one-room schoolhouse type class.\u00a0 I have always had a desire to work with MK&#8217;s and a passion for discipleship.\u00a0 I love to see their minds grow and how God stretches their hearts as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What color should we paint our house?<\/strong><br \/>\nPink.\u00a0 Barbie pink.\u00a0 It suits both of our girly personalities.\u00a0 <strong>Uhhh&#8230;\u00a0 Ummm&#8230;\u00a0 I think we need to talk about this..<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you going to be okay living with a Cowboys fan who sometimes listens to country?<\/strong><br \/>\nWell, we won\u2019t have any TV in the tribe, so no worries about the Cowboys.\u00a0 Plus, I don\u2019t care if you watch basketball, as long as I don\u2019t have to pretend to be excited every time someone scores a goal.\u00a0 <strong>(Snicker, snicker<\/strong>) As far as country music goes\u2026well, that seems like a discussion more well-suited to a different time and place\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Okay, you\u2019ve visited the village where we\u2019ll be living now, what was your impression?\u00a0 What did you like about the people group and the village?<\/strong><br \/>\nI loved it there and can\u2019t wait for our team to truly make it our home.\u00a0 The scenery is beautiful and the people were generous, warm, and approachable.\u00a0 I know we have a huge task ahead of us, but I can\u2019t wait to get going.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you could travel and visit one place in the world, where would you go, and sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 168px) 100vw, 168px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-493\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">the Grand Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For purely touristy reasons, I would probably pick somewhere on the Mediterranean, maybe Italy or Greece.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why, but pictures of that part of the world have always fascinated me.\u00a0 A little closer to home, the Grand Canyon is definitely on my list of things to see, along with some other cool western states spots.\u00a0 When on furlough my family normally sticks to New York and Michigan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is a Scripture that has been encouraging you lately?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Bible class my students and I have been talking about the Word of God and reading Gutenberg\u2019s biography.\u00a0 He was a man who believed that people needed to be able to read the Bible for themselves and not just take another person&#8217;s word for it.\u00a0 In the Psalms, King David said that \u201cThe law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.\u201d\u00a0 I don\u2019t always live like I believe that, but I long to.\u00a0 Just as I long for the Nahuatl and other unreached people to have the chance to see it for themselves and love it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anything else you want to tell the internet?<\/strong><br \/>\nAh, yes\u2026the internet is such a warm, personable place.\u00a0 I do have one more thing, though.\u00a0 If you\u2019re reading this, you probably know Rachel.\u00a0 Thank you to all of you who support and pray for her and in that way, for our team.\u00a0 She in an example and encouragement to me and an important part of the group God has brought together to do a job.\u00a0 And because she counts on
