Yes, that was a lightning fast trip.<\/p>\n

The storm that changed the plans<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This is why the trip was so fast.<\/p>\n

3 friends had come down to help pour the floor for Katie’s and my house.\u00a0 Dan, Ron, and the 3 guys were about 2.5 hours into the trip on the second day of travel when they realized they were not going to make it to the village.\u00a0 It started raining during the night and Dan said he “was filled with foreboding.”<\/p>\n

Rain on the clay roads created very slippery mud.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

However, they started out in the morning, hoping to get past the slippery hill before it got too bad.\u00a0 Before they even got to the slippery hill they knew it was too much.\u00a0 Up until the slippery hill, the road is “good.”\u00a0 And, they were battling already on that part.\u00a0 Dan said as they were descending on one of the hills, he started sliding to the side and slide right into the bank.\u00a0 If they had kept going, once they got to the “bad” part of the road, they could have slide right of the road and down the mountains. Not only is the road condition worse, but there are no guard rails to keep you on the road if you slip.<\/p>\n

That was just the 1st day of 3 days of torrential downpour.\u00a0 And, guess what?\u00a0 3 more days of downpour are coming!<\/p>\n

We praise God that the guys made it back safely. <\/strong><\/strong> In addition to the mud and rain, they had to watch for ice on paved road through the mountains on their way back home.<\/p>\n

We’re leaving again for the village in a little bit with a dentist.\u00a0 He’ll treat as many people as he can and we’ll keep working on our house.\u00a0 Please pray that the weather will clear up so that the roads can dry out a bit.\u00a0 And pray that we can make it in safely.<\/strong><\/p>\n
