Early in 1970, a mission mobilizer came to our house in Seattle. He told us about language groups of people who would not hear the Good News about Jesus until someone who has already heard goes to tell them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

We thought, “Maybe there is something we can do about that.”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Just a little over six months later, in August, we had moved to Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, where we all learned more about God and His passion for language groups of people who are still untold.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We learned \u201cSongs of Challenge<\/a>\u201d, heard message after message from the Bible, listened to testimonies from missionaries, viewed films of the action, gained skills in jungle living, and had our first ride in an aircraft.<\/p>\r\n

We had missionaries in our home for dinner, read their exciting books, heard personal testimony of what God is doing, and watched some of their children eat ants. I learned how to chop firewood, bathe in a river, and dig roots to make sassafrass tea.<\/p>\r\n

To say that our lives were changed would be a great understatement, and that was just the beginning<\/span> of opportunities. We have been so blessed to have a part in ministries in many other places since then.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

That same property where we learned so much is now used differently, but its ultimate purpose is the same: expose people to God\u2019s mission and ways we can all have a part in obedience to His plan to reach language groups of people yet unreached with the Gospel.<\/p>\r\n

The location is now known as \u201cWayumi\u201d (why-you me). It’s where Ethnos360’s “Wayumi Weekend Retreat”, “Wayumi Course”, and “Wayumi Expedition” are held<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What we are doing, what you are supporting through your prayers and gifts, is bringing people to the realization of God\u2019s plan and of opportunities to use their own gifts and skills in His work to tell the untold. Wayumi is one of our favorite ways to do this.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We invite people to come with us to Wayumi<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n

Wayumi provides an immersive way to show people God\u2019s mission for the church. It gives an opportunity for in-depth conversations about establishing thriving churches of Christians among language groups of people who have not heard the Good News.<\/p>\r\n

Among Christians, there is a lot of confusion about what is, and is not, the mission of the body of Christ.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n

Wayumi reduces common misunderstandings through laying a Biblical foundation, defining terms, displaying needs, and giving an overview of God\u2019s plan in action; all the way from the first introduction to the mature indigenous church.<\/p>\r\n

In a fun environment, with exciting stories, the Wayumi teachers provide opportunities for changes in the way we view the world and live our lives.<\/p>\r\n

We have brought several groups to Wayumi. Twenty-nine of us attended the Wayumi Expedition for teens in June. In October, eight of us attended a Wayumi Weekend Retreat, and two days later I brought a leader to the Wayumi Church Leaders Retreat. We all learn so much at Wayumi!<\/p>\r\n

Our objective is to lead each person to a closer walk with God, to a clearer understanding of His purpose, and to opportunities for change that may bring much more future rejoicing.<\/p>\r\n

Now we are working to invite more people to Wayumi events.<\/span> The challenge is in finding effective ways to connect with people so that they can see the value of what we are offering. <\/span><\/p>\r\n
