On February 12th I got a chance to travel with Mike Goddard, Bryson White, and his Paraguayan friend, out to visit the Ach\u00e9 colony where we used to live to celebrate with them the dedication of their new church building. Though it had been raining for days, we were able to make it into the Ach\u00e9 colony in spite of the very slick roads and mud. It was great to see friends again who I had not seen in many years. \"DSC05703b\"Though the church has its struggles, they are pressing on. A Paraguayan missionary with LETRA, Victor Gomez, along with a number of Ach\u00e9, are continuing work on the translation of the Bible into Ach\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Though it has been 17 years since Laurie and I lived and worked among them, and my ability to speak Ach\u00e9 is extremely rusty, it was still a great time to touch base with them, encourage them, and be encouraged as well.<\/p>\n

\"Jessica,The end of January we celebrated the arrival of another new missionary, Jessica Erkfitz. Praise the Lord for His provision of a great Host Church to work with her as she learns Spanish and Paraguayan culture and develops relationships with in the Paraguayan community.<\/p>\n

Another family, the Quasts, will arrive the first part of May. Pray for me as I look for a Host Church and place to live for them. The cost of living is rising here (as it is everywhere) and reasonably priced apartments or houses are getting hard to find.<\/p>\n

Laura will be staying here in Paraguay with us for a year after she graduates. She hopes to find a job in the area (and would appreciate your prayers in that).<\/p>\n

As I\u2019ve mentioned before, I\u2019ve had ongoing problems with my blood glucose levels with my diabetes. While in the US in 2008 my endocrinologist in Montana wanted me to go on an insulin pump, but the insulin, pump, and supplies weren\u2019t available in Paraguay. PTL, that has all changed now. I was able to buy a pump in the US and have a friend bring it down to me with some supplies. I\u2019ll buy the insulin, and future supplies, here. I\u2019m currently in the process of being trained in it\u2019s use and care and I have high hopes it will allow me to keep my blood sugar levels more evenly regulated.<\/p>\n
