If you haven’t heard yet… New Tribes Mission USA has changed its name to Ethnos360! It’s a project my team has been working on for the past many months: preparing new partnership materials, planning how to communicate the change, co-ordinating with outside vendors, rewriting website text, preparing for events and creating a couple of videos. Thanks so much for your prayers and support! You’ve had a big part of this, even though we couldn’t share details.<\/p>\n

The new name, Ethnos360, is pronounced, eth \u0301- n\u014ds \u2014 The final vowel is pronounced like the O in “know.” The final sound is an S sound like that heard in “dose of medicine.” The 360 follows as one word: thr\u0113 – siks \u0301- t\u0113.<\/p>\n

Ethnos represents the nations referred to in the Great Commission (Mt 28:19 & Lk 24:47). And 360 represents whole globe (all 360 degrees of longitude).<\/p>\n

It’s neat that the meaning of the name \u2013 all the nations \u2013 points to the vision of our founders, stated in our first magazine in May 1943, “By unflinching determination we hazard our lives and gamble all for Christ until we have reached the last tribe regardless of where that tribe might be.”<\/p>\n

It’s exciting to see the new logo, as it represents connection points \u2013 you and I and all the other team members reaching and connecting across the globe to new people groups.<\/p>\n

Just as the points on the globe are incomplete, the church isn’t finished yet. That’s why we have a new name \u2013 to position ourselves for new opportunities to reach a changing world.<\/p>\n

Ethnos360 is just starting the first step of sharing the name with our members, and will continue to update materials and videos and share more with our partners throughout the year as we continue to celebrate 75 years of God’s faithfulness.<\/p>\n

Our partnership trip ended well as I (Regina) enjoyed a ladies’s retreat in New Jersey. However, at the beginning of the week we discovered a gallbladder issue (I became ill and needed IVs in the ER for dehydration to prevent early labor). The issue has calmed down, and prayerfully will remain so for the rest of the pregnancy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
