Stacie:
So, in the back of my mind, I guess I always had this thought that we wouldn’t really see God intervening on our behalf until we were on the field and really being forced to rely on Him for everything. I always sort of figured that as long as we were in the States, that God wouldn’t be very obvious, and that even if He was, I would miss it. Well, He has indeed shown up in an obvious way, and its so exciting! For me, it feels like He is just encouraging us along, showing us again and again that this whole process will work only because of Him- which is great!
So, we planned to spend this summer spending time with people, getting invested in their lives and starting to build our support team. This was great in theory, but with two people who are pretty introverted, this was a bigger task than we had anticipated. God, however, is a God of relationship building, a God of using the unexpected for His purposes, and a God who is completely dependable. He has apparently decided that the “relying entirely on God” experience is not one to be enjoyed solely by those who are overseas and behind a pulpit, but every believer, including us! This is why, despite our best efforts, the high majority of our support raised so far is entirely of His providence, and not on our planning!
The other day, Rhett and I “just happened” to be hanging out at home, when a church elder from Sheboygan “just happened” to drop by to talk to my dad and Nana, the topic of missions “just happened” to come up, and he “just happened” to ask my dad if he knew any missionaries, because their church was looking to support some. I love it when God ‘just happens’!!
