We've been encouraged a few times to start recording when God answers prayers, and for whatever reason, our multiple attempts have all fizzled out or been lost along the way. It is really regrettable though, as these stories can be so encouraging not only to us (especially when life isn't going as planned), but to others as well. That being said, this post is dedicated to bragging on God! He has been showing Himself so faithful, and though I say those words frequently, there is something in the specifics that make the truth so much more convincing. My hope is that as the days go by, this post will inspire my brain to remember those times in the past when God moved clearly in our lives, as well as remind others of their experiences with God! Let the encouragement abound!
Naturally, people have been asking us how much we need to raise before we head overseas; quite unnaturally however, we don’t know how to answer that question.
Before anyone cries, "sacrilage!!", let me be clear: "B.S." is "Bible Study", and this little notation is appearing over and over in my tiny pocket calendar. God is blessing our time in California way more than we expected (our bad, shoulda known better!). Only a week and a half here has our schedule brimming with meetings with pastors and missions boards, and opportunities to meet tons of people from all different churches!
Introducing: Wyatt Rowe Stous!! This handsome little guy entered the world on December 3 at 8:51 a.m., weighing in at 9 Lbs 1 oz, measuring 22 inches. I had gone in for a baby-doctor appointment the day before, and though this little guy wasn’t showing any signs of wanting to enter the world, being 2 […]
Well, some wonderful news once we got to Wisconsin: we’ve been approved by our Mission Board to be sent out by Open Door Bible Church! This was the last step to be completed before starting to raise support, so we’re pretty excited (and very nervous) to begin this next step in our journey to the […]
Well our stint in Oklahoma is now over, and our brains are very much appreciating a little break from linguistic analysis! While we definitely appreciate the experience and we can see how valuable it was, we must admit, we are thankful that our write-up is complete! Though we learned a good deal about the makeup […]
God has decided that for the moment, our family of four was not quite the size it was meant to be, and come November we will be parents of THREE children! Another little boy is due to arrive November 30 (though we’re hoping for an 11-12-13 birthday 🙂 ) The ultrasound showed a very active […]
Well, we've shared a bit about what last semester looked like and what we're expecting the next few weeks, but one thing we're finding is that many people aren't sure what a linguist is/what our purpose is and how we fit into a missionary team.
Anyhoo, this last semester has been so full of learning, most of which gets really technical and perhaps even (gasp!) boring to those who aren't of linguistic persuasion (bi-directional partial fusion anyone?). We, however, have really enjoyed the time getting to see how God designed languages that are so complicated, yet adhere to logical rules and systems that allow us to figure them out.
Well, linguistics classes have been in session for over a week now, and I feel like I’m seeing “suspicious pairs” lurking in dark alleys and I’ve already had my first linguistics nightmare. Literally up all night trying to figure out why I hadn’t converted a [pw] into a [pʷ] in my homework, and trying to […]
