This morning it occurred to me again just how long life can take over here as I did some of my morning routine.\u00a0 For example, I don\u2019t think that making coffee takes any longer here than in the States because we have an automatic coffee maker here in the guest house.\u00a0 However, other things do take longer.\u00a0 First of all, we filter all our drinking water, so that has to be kept up with to make sure enough water is ready for use whenever you need it.\u00a0 Next, we fill an igloo cooler with ice and water for everyone to have to drink cold water out of throughout the day.\u00a0 (That way the fridge door isn\u2019t constantly being open because we all drink a lot over here in this heat and humidity.)\u00a0 In the bush I use old margarine containers to freeze chunks of ice in, but out here we don\u2019t have those, so I have a couple small containers and some ice cube trays.\u00a0 So, they need to be emptied and refilled each morning.\u00a0 Not difficult, just time consuming.<\/p>\n
Then, if we want other drinks, there are those to prepare.\u00a0 The powdered juices are much cheaper than bottled juice (and weigh a LOT less to fly into the bush.)\u00a0 Right now we can actually get packets of Tang out of the Philippines in flavors like orange, orange mango (pretty tasty), and orange pineapple (which I mixed up this morning to try next).\u00a0 Again, not hard to do, it just takes time and if we want cold juice tomorrow morning, needs done today.\u00a0 Plus, I\u2019ve been brewing tea to make ice tea to drink throughout the day, so that also takes a few minutes in the prep and fixing.\u00a0 None of these things are difficult to do, they just seem to take more time in the living than they do back home in the States.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
