{"id":1050,"date":"2013-05-17T09:07:57","date_gmt":"2013-05-17T01:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/?p=1050"},"modified":"2013-05-17T09:07:57","modified_gmt":"2013-05-17T01:07:57","slug":"finding-jesus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/2013\/05\/17\/finding-jesus\/","title":{"rendered":"FINDING JESUS!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1068\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1068\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/files\/2013\/05\/Picture-105.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1068\" title=\"Picture 105\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/files\/2013\/05\/Picture-105-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1068\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Robert, Cirena, &amp; Sheila<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When Finding Nemo first came out in film back in 2003 we totally missed it.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>As a matter of fact, I distinctly remember one of our co-workers giving Sheila Marie a stuffed fish that same year for her second birthday.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>I was told the fish\u2019s name was Nemo as evident by his \u2018lucky\u2019 fin.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>I however had no clue.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>This was our first year of ministry in the Philippines on Palawan and we were busy helping tribal people in the process of Finding Jesus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Since then we\u2019ve had the opportunity to watch Finding Nemo a number of times and I would say this is arguably one of the greatest cartoon films ever created.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>After all, who can forget lines like, (insert surfer accent) \u201cTaking on the jellieees!<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Dude, you\u2019ve got some serious thrill issues.\u201d <span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>Back in Palawan, currently the gospel is being preached among the Calamian Tagbanwa and when I stop and think of the work this takes, it makes me want to say to our co-workers as little squirt said to Marlin, \u201cDude, you totally rock!\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Our co-worker Nate recently wrote, \u201c<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Teaching people who have never clearly understood God&#8217;s word is slow going\u2026 sometimes painfully slow, but taking the time to teach steadily from the beginning has been so worth it!<\/em>\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He went on to say, \u201c<em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">As we teach about Jesus, people really connect the dots right away and He makes sense to them.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In Finding Nemo, in order for Marlin to save his son Nemo, he had to venture off the reef into dangers unknown, cross the ocean and fight of some hungry sharks and other creatures of the deep.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Despite the danger, Marlin\u2019s love for Nemo compelled him to set out on this incredible journey.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Along the way he found help from forgetful Dory, a 150 year old sea turtle named Crush and numerous others along the way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So what\u2019s the point?<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Whiling Finding Nemo is a cool cartoon, Finding Jesus is of far greater importance.
