Dick is an elder at PCC.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A few years ago I took a Perspectives course on missions at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Cebu.\u00a0 Just to get our brain juices flowing the question was asked, &#8220;Does missions exist because churches exist, or do churches exist because missions exist?&#8221;\u00a0 That&#8217;s a\u00a0 pretty profound question and while it&#8217;s true, churches would not exist without missions, neither would missions exist without churches.\u00a0 The bottom line is that the two are mutually dependent and therefore one cannot fulfill it&#8217;s God given role without the other.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_968\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-968\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/files\/2012\/09\/014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-968\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/files\/2012\/09\/014-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-968\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cirena talking missions with a gal at PCC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Recently we have had the opportunity to spend time with our friends at <a href=\"http:\/\/pacificcoastchurch.org\/\">Pacific Coast Church <\/a>of San Clemente.\u00a0 From the first day I set foot in this church in 1990 I could sense a real passion for missions, both locally and to the ends of the earth.\u00a0 And so when we felt called to &#8216;GO&#8217; in 2002, this church stepped up and guided us through the process.\u00a0\u00a0Yes, there have been some growing pains and yet ultimately we are so\u00a0grateful to have\u00a0PCC as our sending church and for other&#8217;s also that have come alongside of us in this work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_970\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-970\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/files\/2012\/09\/015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-970\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/robert-smith\/files\/2012\/09\/015-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-970\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Smitty hanging out with Tom Zannotti, a fellow PCC&#039;er <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thinking back to the question above, perhaps more than the church and missions being mutually dependent, more importantly the two are completely dependent upon God and neither entity can achieve any real good short of a total focus on Him.\u00a0 We are so grateful to be part of a church that is focused on Christ and desires to be like Christ to those within, to our neighbors, and to the ends of the earth.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h3>Acts 1:8<\/h3>\n<p><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><em>but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
