Two friends, aged three and five, seem to have an idea of what adventures might be waiting for me in Papua New Guinea. Their imaginations have conjured up convertibles navigating mountain roads and rides atop wild elephants. While these ideas might seem far-fetched, my imagination didn’t hit the mark either.
I started this process confident in God’s call for me to support missionaries that are reaching the least reached people groups. I did not imagine the lessons in patience that would result as well. For example, each wave of paperwork has required a relinquishing of control and lots of waiting. The end result is all the permits are granted and plane tickets purchased for the end of the month. I was frustrated at the slowness of support-raising, yet now I am almost entirely funded. The process has allowed me to get excited about how God is using so many people from so many different aspects of my life to reach those that have never heard about Him.
Therefore, as I wonder about what life is going to look like in the coming year, I remember that part of what I’ve signed up for is a lesson in waiting. That lesson has turned out well in the past, and I have confidence that it will in the future as well.
Missing you already and hope to see pictures if you actually do ride an elephant! HEE! Much love and prayers!
Praying for you in the exciting & crazy days ahead!!!
