Thursdays Make Me Smile

November 3, 2011 by Robyn Green

Thursdays make me smile because there are three happy reminders of Texas on this day each week.
First, it is Store Day, which means of course, that the supply store is open, and I get to go grocery shopping! This week was particularly exciting because food from the US had arrived on a container and was available. Today I did a happy dance down the aisle because I was able to purchase applesauce, green olives and kidney beans, which are all among the things I hadn’t been able to buy here in country previously.
Second, it is Mail Day. Today I got a funny card from a sweet friend at home. It was postmarked on August 25th, so even though I had been told it was coming, I had long since forgotten about it. There was definitely an exclamation of joy when I saw an envelope in my box.
Third, it is Beth Moore Day. Really, the Bible study I am a part of meets in the evenings, and we are going through Living Beyond Yourself together. I love that I get to learn from somebody with a thick drawl and big hair each week. Such reminders of Texas make me smile each Thursday.
