How Do You Learn an Unwritten Language?

As a teacher, I have ideas for getting students interested in and learning just about any content. I was trained in college and I have years of experience in making information accessible. But I cannot fathom how to start learning or teaching an unwritten language! The need to start from scratch is overwhelming to me, but that’s what church planters do in order to communicate most effectively.
This video from our communications manager explains how church planting missionaries learn and even become fluent in an unwritten language! The video also explains the efficiency that could come with better technology.
