I am having a hard time getting a summary of the last five months into words, and that makes blogging hard. (And I’m not yet ready to learn the editing skills needed for vlogging or the dance moves needed for tiktok.)
In addition to my roles as a missionary kid teacher serving remotely, I have been my parents’ caregiver for almost three years. This role initially was focused on my mother, but in October my father was diagnosed with pancreas cancer. He required much more care, and we spent a lot of time at the hospital together. He went through intense chemo that had significant effects on his body, and he passed away at the end of February. And to be trite, but completely sincere: while we mourn his loss here on Earth, we do very much know he is reunited and whole with his Savior. Our family has been well cared for by several local and distant bodies of believers. We do not yet have a new normal (and I do not yet have words), but we’ll get there.
I appreciate your continued prayers as I serve my mother and serve in my regular support ministry for the mission field. This time in the school year means working hard to end well while also plan ahead for the upcoming year. I hope to be able to write more in upcoming months.
