I had hoped to send an update with “Settled” in the title, but this one is not quite what I had in mind.
My mother and I did get moved over the summer, and her old house sold as well. After a lot of work on both old and new, things are coming together at the new house. But there are still boxes to unpack, places to figure out, and new appointments to make. We’re getting there, but every day I know that we are not settled.
Getting the schoolyear started has been more of a struggle. We worked over the long-break to stretch and allocate staff to meet students’ needs, but we started the year short. And since school started at the beginning of this month, staff have had to leave due to tragic circumstances in their families. We keep shuffling and coming up with a new plan. I have personally struggled with teaching remotely, as we’ve run into a new technology issue everyday. The students have been very gracious, but we all know it isn’t ideal. We just aren’t settled yet.
And yet, in the unsettledness, I am reminded of God’s goodness. He has blessed my mother and I with a house just minutes from my sister and her family. He has blessed us with a back porch that we didn’t even know we wanted, as well a relatively mild summer to enjoy it with my niece. He has given me an amazing group of coworkers that share a passion for supporting church planting. The Lord has given the school parents and students that are patient and flexible. God is good, all the time.
