Dog Days of School?

August 24, 2026 by Robyn Green

It is most definitely the dog days of summer here in Texas. We broke a record high yesterday (108!) and it is too hot to do much of anything outside. And yet, we’re also already four weeks into the school year at Numonohi. So, I suppose that puts us in the dog days of school?

I am teaching Physical Science and Geometry this year. (The above pic was from a carbonation in soda lab to practice experimental design in Physical Science; in the trial before, some students had ended up with Coke sprayed on them so the anticipatory smiles are real :)) I remain coordinator for special services for the field and an administrator at the school as well. I have more work to do as the number of support workers continues to drop, and it has been a rough start to the school year with all the tasks to accomplish. This drop in support workers has gone hand-in-hand with a drop in church planters as well.

And thus, I want to advertise Encounter in PNG, which focuses on support work in PNG:

Encounter is a part of Ethnos360’s Short-Term Trips, offering two-week trips to various Global Partner locations around the world. Participants will be challenged to find their fit in reaching the unreached by learning, serving and experiencing cross-cultural ministry first-hand.

In PNG, the focus will be on connecting participants to the various needs in Support. Participants will learn about ministry needs and the long-term efforts necessary for taking God’s gospel to the ends of the earth. We’ll hear from missionaries in various ministry roles and have an opportunity to spend time in one of our church planting locations.

If interested, apply at: https://ethnos360.org/short-term-trips/encounter. Application Deadline is September 15th.
