Future Generations

December 7, 2024 by Robyn Green

I have all sorts of pictures on my phone, probably too many. One that I have saved from 2021 (long before I even I had the phone I am using) is a prayer that I come across and return to frequently. When I realized I wanted to use it in my post for these last couple months, I realized I have no idea of where it is actually from. I’ve searched the internet and finally found it. It is from Priscilla Shirer’s Elijah Bible study, though it comes from the section on Gilead and preparation.

“As you close today’s lesson, take a few moments to thank the Lord for your journey this far. Ask Him to give you the courage to trust that He is using every part of it-even the difficult or despairing parts-to form you into His image, to focus your passions and pursuits, and to funnel you into the stream of His purposes for this generation, for future generations.”

At the teacher job fair, before all the students came. I forget to take pictures once I get talking!

I’ve had the opportunity to rep for Ethnos360 at a college missions fair and a teacher job fair in the last couple months. And I have had the chance to celebrate my niece’s first birthday. College students and one-year-olds are quite different, but they both represent future generations. The fairs have been great reminders of the range of skills, joys, and abilities that God grants believers. It has been encouraging to see young believers looking to glorify Him in their next steps, whether those steps are into secular professions or the mission field. My interactions with the students have reminded me of how thankful I am that the Lord has put me in a place where I can support reaching the unreached using my God-given skills in education and where, for this moment, I can also share with these particular future generations. My work here in the States has meant different future generations than I am used to through the school (where the bulk of my service remains), and I am loving getting to work with those on the cusp of careers and love on those who are too young to even know what school is. God has a glorious plan that you and I and they get to be a part of!
