I have a feeling that you are wondering if this is worthy of a blog post and debating if you should read on. I can\u2019t determine those things for you, but I can tell you that a helicopter sighting is rare here. As I looked out the back window, I saw entire families run into the field to try and catch a glimpse of it. At a gathering of friends later, the helicopter\u2019s presence in the sky was discussed. It\u2019s something that might be ordinary in some places, but here it is noteworthy. It made me think about things that I all too often think are ordinary but are indeed a big deal\u2026things like the provision of a food for every meal, such as the crocodile stir-fry last night or the chicken biscuits that are a delicious snack; emails from friends or family about everything and nothing in particular; students who ask questions about glowing guinea pigs during the genetics unit; prayer for staff and students during meetings; sunny days that mean plenty of hot water. PNG has a knack for reminding of life lessons, and the helicopter overhead made me especially grateful for these ordinary things, and leaves me hoping that such thankfulness won\u2019t be a rarity in my life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday a helicopter flew over the center at dinnertime.
