I live six degrees south of the equator but seemed to be surprised by the heat of the afternoons this term. I am told this is pretty classic dry season\u2026cool mornings, but mighty hot afternoons where the sun seems so very close. Because of the direction the science classroom and the puniness of one fan, it gets uncomfortable after lunch in there. Students and teachers alike hope for an afternoon rainstorm to cool things off.
\n As I walked back to school one day, I turned to the other science teacher and said hopefully, \u201cIt looks like there are more clouds in the sky then there were this morning.\u201d His reply was that it did indeed look like there were more clouds, but that they didn\u2019t seem to have any effect on the sun. I pondered what he said for a minute, and it was true. There were clouds as you looked across at the mountains and horizon, but the sun was smack in the center of the sky, blazingly still. It wasn\u2019t affected a single bit by the white puffiness.
\n I needed that analogy this week. There are clouds in my life, and yours I imagine. I want to be home again this week to be by my family as my father had unexpected open-heart surgery. Midmarking period is this week so all grades and comments must get done, and I am still overwhelmed with teaching three preps that I have never taught before this assignment. As the holidays approach, I want to be near friends for the weather change and festivities. All these things make my life seem pretty cloudy if I let them, but I must be reminded that God is God. Just as the sun shines here way above the mountains and horizon, these clouds don\u2019t affect him. He sees them, knows the impact they have on me, and is still the source of peace and giver of goodness. God is still mightily shining despite the circumstances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
