What God Has Been Doing in Human Terms

27 September 12 by Roland and Jinni Shafer Jr.

The Harvest Is Plentiful, the Laborers Few

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”  taken from the Matthew 9:35-37 Holy Scriptures ~ English Standard Version

Thank you for partnering with NTM and us, in prayer and with your finances! We thought it would be encouraging to see what you have been a part of: the BIG PICTURE! As we begin our 2nd year on staff, with NTM in Canada, rejoice in what God has been doing all over the world through New Tribes and their supporters.

New Testament Dedication

Currently there are 457 students in training, from 27 different countries.  In Canada alone, 8 countries are represented!      104 translations of the New testament are in progress.  6 were completed last year.  12 of these should be finished by 2017.     Last year 4 new works began, and 3 tribes heard the Gospel for the first time.   NTM missionaries are serving in 258 tribes.   1121 churches have been planted; 674 of them have elders, 467 are without elders.  There are an estimated 76,169 believers.    A total of 59 New Testaments have been translated.

Pray for more laborers!  The HARVEST is great, but the workers are FEW!  In Canada, of all the missionaries trained:    32% are actively serving,  26% have been placed in ministry, 33% are serving with other missions’ organizations and 3% have other ministries.  And the other 6%?

Just last night we heard, through a testimony given by a missionary from the Philippines, there is a tribe at the “end of the earth” (as they call themselves) that is still waiting for someone to come and explain “God’s talk” in their mother tongue.

Some of you heard about the BIEM people group from PNG, during our brief visit home.  They are in the midst of hearing from the Lord through Chronological Bible teaching. One tribal man stated he would not be deciding anything about what he is hearing unless he has heard it all the way to the end and he will keep coming to the lessons until then! God is speaking to the BIEM through HIS laborers. More is happening every day now. In the days ahead there will be growing opposition from the adversary. Remember these teammates in your prayers, too.

We trust the Lord has proven Himself to you in many ways, encouraging you as you respond to His directing your steps. He is using you in His kingdom work and it brings Him glory as we proclaim His testimony right where has us. We are praying for more laborers. Is HE calling to your heart to GO! ?

Thank you, again, for your vital role in this ministry team. We would not be able to serve here without you!

our Source of confidence – 2 Corinthians 3;4-6

(4)  We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.

(5)  It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success come from God.

(6)  He is the one who has enabled us to represent His new covenant. This is a covenant, not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old way ends in death; in the new way, the Holy Spirit gives life.

2 Corinthians 3:4-6
