We only missed our planned departure by 7 minutes! (6:07AM). Although we left in the middle of a rain storm, thirty minutes down the road all was clear for the rest of the ride there. We passed through a small part of Joplin, even just the little amount of damage we saw by the highway and the flags at half-mast were a reminder of the broken homes and broken hearts deeper in the town.

Our arrival at the National Museum of the West was filled with hugs, prayer and a great lunch – sandwiches, veggies, and fresh, COLD water. We spent a few hours viewing the museum’s various exhibits and finally we were on our way south to meet our hostess. We left without one of our car passengers, Chuck. He had planned to ride from OK City to Anadarko on his road bike. He had his water, his google travel plan and our prayers.

We arrived at our pre-stop, the local Super-Wal, and grabbed some supplies. Our hostess, Charlotte, met us there. After creatively opening the gate’s lock, we made our way into the camp center, unloaded and thanked the Lord for our safe arrival. We had some supper and continued to wait for Chuck. About 9PM he called, he was at the final turn just before he would make it to the supply store (did I mention it was Wal-Mart?). His wife, who was along with the team went back into town to gather him up and bring him out to the site. Finally, everyone got themselves into bed to sleep.

Finally getting to take some time and write an update to our blog.
