{"id":78,"date":"2011-10-19T10:09:30","date_gmt":"2011-10-19T15:09:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ron-lindsey\/?p=78"},"modified":"2011-10-19T13:02:31","modified_gmt":"2011-10-19T18:02:31","slug":"headed-to-png-32011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ron-lindsey\/2011\/10\/19\/headed-to-png-32011\/","title":{"rendered":"Headed to PNG!  3\/2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-83\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ron-lindsey\/files\/2011\/10\/mountain_9.2-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"mountain_9.2\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ron-lindsey\/files\/2011\/10\/mountain_9.2-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ron-lindsey\/files\/2011\/10\/mountain_9.2-164x110.jpg 164w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ron-lindsey\/files\/2011\/10\/mountain_9.2-250x168.jpg 250w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ron-lindsey\/files\/2011\/10\/mountain_9.2.jpg 598w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>In just <\/strong><\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/\/Users\/carrielindsey\/Desktop\/mountain_9.2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>three weeks Carrie and I will be<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong> returning to Papua New Guinea!<\/strong><\/span> It has been 9 years since we left the country that became home to us.\u00a0  It was there that our kids were born and raised and where our lives were  shaped.\u00a0 It was while ministering to the Siawi tribal people that our  world view was established, and our commitment to unreached tribal  people with the Gospel was etched on our hearts.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong> In our absence, the Lord has raised up a strong church in that remote setting. <\/strong><\/span> The current missionaries have done well at disciplining the believers.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>The translation will be completed this year and deacons and elders will be recognized for the first time while we are there! <\/strong><\/span> God has been so gracious to the Siawi\u2019s!\u00a0 The missionaries will be  vacating the tribe in 2011.\u00a0 At that time the airstrip will slowly be  reclaimed by the jungle, and the church will be fully in the hands of  the tribal people.\u00a0 Though visits will still be possible it will involve  a difficult hike from a neighboring tribe.<\/p>\n<p>We were there at the inception of the work and labored to make the  airstrip so that we could live with our partners in the jungle and begin  the missionary work and now the airstrip is closing. The airstrip was  simply a tool towards that end.\u00a0 Now, with a mature church firmly  established the airstrip has served its purpose.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>As the missionaries phase out of the tribe ple<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>ase pray that this tribal church will function in a way that glorifies Christ<\/strong><\/span> as they are tucked away under the jungle canopy of the upper Sepik  River of Papua New Guinea.\u00a0 Pray for Carrie and I as we desire to be a  blessing to our tribal friends there.\u00a0 It will be so fun to speak some  of the Siawi tribal language again!<br \/>\nIt will be an emotional visit for us.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>While in PNG I will also be the main speaker at the annual missionary gathering.<\/strong><\/span> Please pray!\u00a0 I am finalizing my messages and will be speaking from the  book of Philippians. These missionaries are our heroes and we really  want to be an encouragement to them!\u00a0 These guys are working in some of  the hardest places on the face of the earth and we want to bring a  little joy into their lives!<\/p>\n<p>Carrie and I will also get to visit the missionary support center for the Highlands region.\u00a0 This is where we served as dorm parents for our last years on  the field.\u00a0 We have many dear friends there- both missionaries and Papua  New Guineans.\u00a0 I believe that I will be speaking there as well.<\/p>\n<p>This is going to be an awesome trip!!\u00a0 I sure wish we could take you with us.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>Many  of you have been part of our support team for 27 years and I wish you  could enjoy this experience of witnessing the established church first  hand.\u00a0 As the ones who have benefited from your gracious support please  let Carrie and I say THANK YOU!<\/strong><\/span> Good job, guys!\u00a0 You have been faithful and I believe God is pleased with what WE have done as a team.\u00a0 Thank you. Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>We will be in PNG March 1st -21st.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #b22222\"><strong>We  are currently in the process of buying our tickets.
