What does a week of vacation look like? I’m thinking mine was a tad odd. It was a blend of being a tourist, a guest and a missionary. All were great!
On being a tourist….
Missionaries don’t like to look like tourists. They like to blend in! But that’s exactly what I looked like this past Monday. My son, Jamie, joined me on a one day tour of New York City. After walking ten miles to see eleven tourist hotspots in eleven hours, we were less than spry at the end of the day—but I would do it again.
On being a guest….
Our next stop was Massachusetts where we were guests of my former co-workers. Guests? Staying with Walt and Jane is more like staying with family. They are our extended family! We also had the pleasure of having lunch with some long-time friends and supporters the day we headed home.
On being a missionary….
Three opportunities to share missions during our three night stay was great. It was a joy to share at each of the Bible study groups—even the one at 6:30 in the morning! They were warm-hearted groups with an obvious heart for the Lord.
Thank you for your prayers as I continue on with partnership development. Partnership development might sound officious, but really, on my part it is just taking every opportunity to share God’s heart for missions with wonderful people. That sounds a lot more down to earth—and a lot more doable! The moving hearts for prayer and financial support? That’s God’s department.
