And tomorrow he arrives. (Or so we’re told!)

I can’t say I’m excited at his coming, but at least I’m as prepared as I can be. It’s kind of in my nature. I’ve stocked up on supplies such as water, food, batteries and a hand-crank emergency radio that will also charge my phone. Even sandbags are in place.

What I couldn’t have anticipated was a mild toothache last evening turning into a major source of pain during the night. Pain meds and an ice pack didn’t touch it, prompting a 3 a.m. trip to Walmart for numbing gel. That took the edge off enough to get in a few more hours of sleep.

Morning dawned early — like when the numbing gel wore off — and with it dawned the realization that unless I wanted to risk living in pain for an undetermined length of time, I needed a dentist and I needed one today — before Hurricane Matthew’s arrival.

Long story short, God provided a dentist that could fit me in this morning, just like He provided all the other things I needed. Isn’t He great? I’m back home, minus one tooth, and strangely thankful it’s gone. Now I’m ready for Hurricane Matthew’s arrival — or so I keep telling myself!

Your prayers would be appreciated. Even more so for those living along the coast where the brunt of the storm will be felt.

Hurricane Matthew has set its sights on Florida.
