But here I am immersed in writing historical articles, and yes, even a book about the early history of NTM. And you know what? I find myself intrigued and challenged by it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #af3544;\">Five Men. Five Martyrs.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of these early stories is about the Ayor\u00e9 people of Bolivia.<\/p>\n<p>Little was known about the Ayor\u00e9s, and what was known should have had the missionaries running in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n<p>But they didn\u2019t run \u2014 not even when warned: \u201cYou won\u2019t come back alive!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They went anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Five men went out. Five men became martyrs at the hands of the Ayor\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>You could say it was a bad decision. You could say they were foolish. But God had a plan. He had a purpose. And He used this early contact to open the hearts of the Ayor\u00e9s to the missionaries.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, an Ayor\u00e9 church was born.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Read more about this in the upcoming issue of NTM@work!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #af3544;\">Another Birth<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Back before the foundation of the earth, God had another plan. He had a plan to reconcile wayward man to Himself. And it involved His Son and sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, let\u2019s not forget what He gave up.<\/p>\n<p>He gave up the glory of heaven to be born in a stable. <em>(Think smelly.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He gave up the glory of heaven to live an impoverished life.<em> (There was no mansion here for Him!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And He gave up the glory of heaven to face rejection, death, and for the first time, separation from God as He bore the penalty of our sins.<\/p>\n<p>And He did it for us. Doesn\u2019t that make you sit back in amazement?
