And in the Malayan jungle a different kind of war was waging, and a tall, young missionary was rapidly becoming a casualty. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">For three years, Paul Fleming had fought an onslaught of malaria attacks. His once strong body was weakened by the fevers, his strength slowly fading away, and it looked as though he were beaten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">Through this, Paul wrote, \u201cGod showed me that He didn\u2019t need my strong back or my weak mind, but what He needed was a channel through which He could work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">It was a life-changer for Paul. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">God didn\u2019t need his strengths. He didn\u2019t need his abilities. He just wanted him to be available to be used in whatever way best fitted <i>His <\/i>purposes, for <i>His <\/i>glory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cGod plus nothing.\u201d That become Paul\u2019s motto. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>(The above are excerpts from a book I\u2019m working on for the early history of NTM.)<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><i>Founding of NTM<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">God did use Paul Fleming for <i>His <\/i>purposes and for <i>His <\/i>glory. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">In the spring of 1942, when New Tribes Mission began, Paul Fleming was one of the founders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Paul wrote, \u201cIt seemed that the Lord had pushed us into something, and we were confident that no man started New Tribes Mission. The Lord brought it into existence in spite of us. \u2026 We were a group of young men with nothing but faith.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><i>And now, 75 Years Later\u2026<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">This year as we celebrate NTM\u2019s 75th Anniversary, we count it a privilege to have been a conduit through which God could work. We rejoice that 75 years later:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s3\">NTM<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> has over 3,000 missionaries from 45 countries working among 259 people groups; <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s4\">1,200 churches have been planted, and 640 of those churches have elders;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s4\">79 New Testaments have been translated; and <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s4\">110 translations are in progress. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Would you rejoice with me? I\u2019m rejoicing at what God <i>has<\/i> done and <i>is<\/i> doing in missions around the world, but I\u2019m also rejoicing because you\u2019re a part of all this through your partnership in the ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Thank you for partnering with me so that together we can see God\u2019s vision of a thriving church for every people come to fruition. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NTM Founder, Paul Fleming, in Malaya.
