{"id":165,"date":"2013-04-24T22:21:19","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T03:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rosie-cochran\/?p=165"},"modified":"2013-04-24T22:21:19","modified_gmt":"2013-04-25T03:21:19","slug":"a-night-of-firsts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/rosie-cochran\/2013\/04\/24\/a-night-of-firsts\/","title":{"rendered":"A Night of Firsts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-family: times; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; padding-left: 30px; padding-right: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/rosierambleson.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/404727_10151353155061965_876604438_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-2945\" src=\"http:\/\/rosierambleson.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/404727_10151353155061965_876604438_n.jpg?w=595\" alt=\"404727_10151353155061965_876604438_n\" width=\"305\" height=\"406\" \/><\/a><strong>Last Sunday night was a night of firsts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: times; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5; padding-left: 30px; padding-right: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong>I gave my first missionary presentation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Considering that my role in the past had been to smile when introduced and then sit back down while my husband gave the presentation, I thought it went better than expected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: times; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5; padding-left: 30px; padding-right: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong>Driving home that night I had another first meeting&#8212;a meeting with a deer.<\/strong><\/span> My poor Toyota Yaris wasn&#8217;t so impressed with that meeting. The deer&#8217;s shoulder slammed into the front corner on the driver&#8217;s side, smashing her pretty blue bumper. Being a faithful little car, she drove me home with all her lights still functioning and without any apparent internal injuries. Of course, the next day I did have to check her in at the &#8220;auto ER&#8221;&#8212;commonly known as the repair shop. I&#8217;m sure she&#8217;s homesick and counting the days before she&#8217;s back in my driveway. The feeling is mutual.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: times; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5; padding-left: 30px; padding-right: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong>The chance encounter with the deer prompted my third first for the night.<\/strong> <\/span>It was the first time I ever called 911.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: times; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5; padding-left: 30px; padding-right: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong>Three firsts in one night.<\/strong> <\/span>You know, I really could have lived several more decades without needing to have two of those firsts. But the missionary meeting? Even though it was outside my comfort zone, it was a first meeting of many as I make plans to head back into missions full-time. That made it a good first.
