Thankfully, God handpicked all the right people to come along and be such a blessing.

My co-worker Chris made multiple trips to Home Depot seem like exciting outings — even when I got sidetracked and forgot to feed her! (Thankfully, she was very forgiving.)

My son Joe came for a surprise visit and ended up helping me paint the bathroom. And it just wouldn’t have come together without the easy-going handyman who worked miracles to get everything done in his spare time.

Of course, I had houseguests for two and a half weeks during this time. My son’s surprise visit was fabulous, and then I had convinced my parents to come down for my dad’s 80th birthday. I’m sure they think I had ulterior motives! Yes, my dad went to work replacing the wooden back door (that had some wood rot) with a nice steel door — and then changed the locks on the front and back doors for me. And my mom? We were a joint cleaning crew.

After much sweat and effort, the house was ready on time, the tenants were handed the keys and moved in (for roughly six months), and the house looks even nicer with furniture in it.

It’s quite relaxing to not be juggling my ministry responsibilities with all the extra-curricular activities. It’s time to come up for air. It’s time to relax and take time to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets over the lake from my living room window.
