Hi friends,
We had a scare last night. At about 22:30 Nya cried out in her sleep we went and got her but we couldn’t waken her for about a minute. This hasn’t happened before; when she opened her eyes she then didn’t have good control of her neck to steady her head and her mouth was a funny shape. She was straining and her eyes rolled back. She did come out of this about 30 sec’s later and was able to answer questions and drink her cup. She had another short episode we think which lasted about 15 sec’s with the same type of symptoms. When this happens to your baby girl it is scary and you suddenly realize how far away from help you really are. Thankfully Nya was fine the rest of the night and slept with us. When she woke this morning she has been her normal bubbly self out playing with Liam and getting into all sorts of trouble ( a normal 2 yr old). We did speak with our Dr. on the radio this morning and there is not much we can do. We have to simply monitor her to see if it occurs again. There is nothing to do in the immediate; these type of things are apparently common to a certain extent and have many different reasons for why they occur. The Dr. was happy that these episodes were short and were not related to fever and vomiting. The Dr is convinced Nya is in no immediate danger. So we will monitor Nya closely and see if it repeats, if it does we may have to leave for a break from the tribe to consult the Dr for tests to get a diagnosis. If it does not repeat there is no need for concern. We are thankful to have our Dr’s to chat with and give advice! We would covet your prayers as we know if we were at home we would probably have tests done already and would have answers. Because of our situation here amongst the Mengen people we have a different road to walk and are thankful for the support team around us. Pray we can walk with the Lord through these times and trust him completely. Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.
Thanks for praying with us,
Simon, Annika, Nya and Noah
