a large “Welcome” sign, created and colored by our partners. For the next few days, our goal was to make our house into a home once again by finding everything that had been packed away in totes/barrels and putting them in their proper places.

<figure id="attachment_1579" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1579" style="width: 300px" class="wp-caption removed, along with 8 months of “droppings” throughout the shed.

Not only did we need to make our house into a home again, but we also needed to get the schoolroom ready for the first day of school (scheduled for five days after our arrival). This included expanding the schoolroom into Stephen’s former office, relegating Stephen to create a “new” office for himself in our bedroom. Like most missionaries, our small home functions as a house for the family, school for the kids, and an office for the missionary.

<figure
