{"id":28,"date":"2008-03-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-23T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-03-23T00:58:09","modified_gmt":"2008-03-23T04:58:09","slug":"whats-for-dinner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/stephen-jordan\/2008\/03\/23\/whats-for-dinner\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s For Dinner?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartImportPhoto--><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/stephen-jordan\/files\/2008\/03\/1242_35010.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-104\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;margin-bottom: 5px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/stephen-jordan\/files\/2008\/03\/1242_35010.jpg\" alt=\"Clams and shells for dinner\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><!--EndImportPhoto--><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>In keeping with what the old people believe, the Agutaynens in our village&nbsp;were careful with what they did and what they ate&nbsp;on Thursday&nbsp;and Friday of this past &quot;holy week&quot;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>When Stephen was invited to someone&#8217;s house, he was served a traditional noodle dish, with clams rather than the normal chicken or pork.&nbsp; This is because eating meat is forbidden on Thursday and Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>People were more careful with their machetes during these days too, because they say any injuries could not be helped by God, who they believe, has really died again.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>However, some traditions were not convenient for them to keep.&nbsp; For example, they had told us earlier in the week that it was forbidden to mill rice on Thursday or Friday.&nbsp; When the day actually came though, there were still several who milled their rice.&nbsp; Otherwise, they said, they wouldn&#8217;t have food to eat that day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Please&nbsp;continue to pray with us that someday our Agutaynen friends and neighbors will serve God because of their&nbsp;faith in&nbsp;Him, not out of fear or convenience.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meat isn&#8217;t usually a big part of the diet of the people in our village, mainly because they simply don&#8217;t have much.
