A Day in our life

March 24, 2013 by Rachel Narwold

I thought maybe it would be fun to document what our life is like right now. So, without further ado..

A day in the life of the Narwold family:

The whole family is usually vertical by 7:30am, the parents are less excited about this. Stephen gets Asa up and dressed while I nurse Naomi and get her dressed. Asa has breakfast and then usually watches a little Curious George while I get ready and Naomi eats cheerios. Stephen leaves for his eight o’clock class.

After everyone is dressed and fed Stephen’s class is usually done and he comes back to the apartment and helps me take the kids to childcare, which starts at 8:45am.

The kids’ childcare classes are right down the hall from our apartment. Here are the kids and Stephen walking to “class.”

Asa loves his class and teachers, but always struggles at drop-off time. His teachers are great about making the transition as easy as possible. Naomi loves her teachers and loves playing with the other babies, but doesn’t think childcare is a good place to take a nap.

After we drop the kids off at childcare chapel hour begins. This hour is used for different things throughout the week. On Tuesdays I get to go meet with the other married women students and Stephen goes with the guys. On Thursdays all the “marrieds” are together and often on Fridays we have Worship chapel. On this particular day we had a class meeting about the class project.

After chapel hour we have two class hours. Since I have already graduated (7 years ago) I am just auditing the classes. Stephen is taking a full load and will graduate in May. Right now we are taking Pastoral Epistles and Christian Life and are both really enjoying it.

After classes we walk back upstairs to pick up our kids from childcare.

Next we all eat lunch. Asa is hooked on peanut butter, raisin and honey sandwiches. Naomi prefers to snuggle up with Mommy for some milk. Sometimes she has solid food later.

Asa’s a good eater, but definitely has preferences.

After lunch both kids get some play time and then go down for a nap around 1 or 1:30. During nap time Stephen works or does homework. I either work on my doula training, do housework or spend some time online.

Nap time=computer time

Nap time is usually over by 3:30pm and we generally spend the time until supper just hanging out with the kids. We do fun things like walks sometimes but a lot of the time we just stay home and play. Our friend Camilla comes to hang out often and both us and our kids love the time we get with her.

h
“Goodmorning Mommy!” is what Asa says when I get him up from a nap.

Supper usually takes place between 5 and 6:30. The day I took these pictures it was Friday and we went down and had Pizza in the dining hall. I took a few pictures but seem to have misplaced them. After pizza Stephen takes Asa to the gym to play with the other kids and I take Naomi up to our apartment to get her ready for bed.

Now you’ll get to see the exciting life we lead when I our children are sleeping. On this particular night I washed the diapers, folded the clean clothes and worked on listing some things on eBay. Stephen worked on homework and getting our computers switched (we decided to trade computers so that Stephen would have a laptop for better portability).

h
I was listing these shoes on ebay and needed the weight. Vintage postal scale still works!

We went to bed early that night!

Well, that’s it! I hope you enjoyed a look at what our everyday life is like as bible school students and parents, and that the pictures of our kids made you smile.

Thanks for sharing your day…loved it. Life is busy, for sure, but enjoy those sweet baby/toddler moments. I love the stage we’re in, but I miss that stage too.
